This is a test post after my great upgrade experience. I removed RedHat from my machine and went with Debian. Honestly, I’m really impressed with most of it, and now that I’ve got my webserver going again, I think it’s just about set.

I didn’t anticipate getting sick… my kiddo’s had a fever for the past three days. Let’s hear it for the flu! *sighs* Seriously, though, I’d like a little break from both stress and illness.

Wheee! Let’s see. My son got the third-fastest time in his pack for the Pinewood Derby and will go to district. My friends just had their baby yesterday and gave her a lovely-Anna-Ellen-type name. I had a great conversation with a Very Important Person in my life last night, and somehow managed to have dinner with friends and think about what I want in my life.

I bought (via auction on ebay) the Surfacing album and fell quite in love with the song Full of Grace. Work is BUSY and good.

It’s been a week or so since I sat down to write anything here. I’ve spent a lot of time just thinking about what I want and where I want to be. Even managed to work on some budget and tax related stuff.

More pasta made… new sauce made and enjoyed (thanks, Azzurra!)… I’d never really liked eggplant… I think maybe I’d never had it done in a way that I liked. It’s YUMMY!

My kiddo had the third-fastest car in his pack’s Pinewood Derby. Talk about fun! We had a great time.

It seems that this is going to be a nice, quiet weekend. Note that I’m not complaining.

While the Jayhawks were kicking the Cornhuskers on the basketball court today, I managed to take a lovely nap. Later, I got to use my new food processor. *hop* Pretty cool! I made a weird dinner, I admit, but it was fairly tasty and very fresh.

The end of another wonderful work week. Everyone may now sigh his or her relief.

Sometimes I wonder if how much I care about my friends comes across. You know? Just thinking out loud today… There’s someone out there who I really think would be an incredible match with me, and I’m not sure how she feels right now. That’s kind of disconcerting. At the same time, though, I’ve been feeling strong… good about the directions I’m taking. This seems like the right path to me.

I’ll keep pedaling.

Okay, yesterday ROCKED! My bike ride was fifteen miles of sun and 73 degree weather. I couldn’t believe it. JANUARY, man!

If anyone who reads this has ever successfully connected via a secure LDAP connection with PeopleSoft, could you PLEASE send me an e-mail? The number 89 is giving me a headache.

And on a lighter note, the pinewood derby is quickly approaching. :-) Pretty exciting stuff!

It is absolutely GORGEOUS outside today. I’ve taken the afternoon off for a bike ride and some healthy sunshine. *CHEERS*

Today was very difficult. I think the clouds were the primary culprit. Escape to sunny Ecuador or… well… pretty much anywhere that they have sunlight most of the year sounds nice at this point.

Work… work looks to make the next few months rather painful. I think I’ll probably get to take a day or two off around April or May. *thump*

And isn’t it amazing how much we learn from those we teach? My boy managed to bonk on the head a girl who said “I love you” to him. D’oh! It seems like everytime something like this happens, I learn more about how to communicate. That’s a good thing, though, right?

The bike ride yesterday was absolutely gorgeous. No spills, cool but not cold, and a decent breeze. It was just lovely.

School starts again tomorrow for the kiddos. I think, if mine is any form of litmus, just about every kid in the country is ready to go back. *cackles*

Somehow I’ve managed to get in touch with some old friends over the last few weeks. Hearing how things are going with them has been a very nice experience. One friend is even wow… on her honeymoon right now, I think. Amazing.

It looks like The Powers That Be have decided when the first chunk of our conversion will happen at work. I’d say “Woo hoo!” except… well… nevermind.

I’ve been watching the second season of Buffy, and generally trying to stay out of trouble. :-) OH! I managed to run most of the pages on this site through an HTML 4.01 strict validator. That was an adventure, let me tell you.

Bike ride later this morning, followed probably by a nice warm-up bath to bring my core temperature back up over 96F. *cackles* It’s chilly outside, but it’s supposed to eventually get up close to 50 or something. Here’s hoping!
