Wow. I’ve been sick for the past week. Turns out, barring something weird coming back in the blood tests, I just really needed rest… and lots of it! I can’t remember a time in my life when I was so intentionally lazy. I slept, dozed, napped, and otherwise went catatonic on the couch and in bed for the better part of a week. The good news is that now I feel a LOT better!

The way I figure it, this was my body’s way of saying, “If you’re not going to take a vacation, I’ll take one for you.” And frankly… it worked.

Lots of friends and family helped out and I wanted to send out a public thank-you to them. You know who you are. *HUGS*

Looking forward to work next week, and hoping that this post finds you well. *waves*

Last week was difficult. I was frustrated and confused and ended up blowing up at a friend who was blowing up at me. That sounds weird, but, well, it was… weird, I mean. So yesterday was obsession day. I did quite a bit of catching up on bathroom cleaning, reading up on (and playing) chess…

This morning my brother and I went out to breakfast with my mom. That was pretty cool, I must say. It’s funny being “grown up” now and having adult conversations with parental units. One thing I’ve learned in the last couple of years is that I’ve learned more about my parents as I’ve become a parent.

And now, people are starting to try to set me up on dates… And for the first time in QUITE a long time, I’m halfway receptive?? Color me nervous.

The shock of the past week has finally begun to subside. The University of Kansas selected me as the Unclassified (non-teaching) Employee of the Year. That was Wednesday afternoon… most of everything since then has been a blur, although I do remember my son’s baseball game that night and how, around the 7th inning, the game was called on account of HAIL. Keep in mind that pretty much the rest of town didn’t get any hail, but the ballfields looked like the Danger Zone(TM).

I’ve been writing some, working on a book. I don’t know where it will take me, but I’m learning a lot. OH! I also had my employee portfolio (review) meeting with my boss. I found that to be a nice experience.

Anyway… there’s another game today and I am going to see the sequel to XMen this afternoon. BUSY!
