Work Rant…

Wednesday, November 24th, 2004

There is something so (sarcastically) satisfying about the way medium-to-large IT departments communicate internally. It would appear that a week ago, the security office met with the head of technical services and decided that the direction I was taking on a project was not the method they wanted to pursue. Now that a member of technical services has done most of the technical work to make my method a reality, I get a memo from the head of TS telling me that a different method was decided upon in last week’s meeting.

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to work here. Mostly I can’t tell you, because at present, I’m not in any way thrilled.

This is truly disappointing.

Sweet sweet sleep…

Thursday, November 18th, 2004

I’ve been lacking in the sleep department lately and thought I’d post a bit about how much I love it.

Some of the very best dreams I’ve ever had have hit me while I’ve been asleep.

I’m the best basketball player in the world there, for instance.

I know the answers to life’s burning questions there.

People want to be around me and I, for the most part, enjoy their company there.

Why, oh why, may I not sleep more than I do?

Holidaze…

Wednesday, November 10th, 2004

The holidays are coming and I’d like to get a sense of what people (who read this) would like as a gift. If you are so inclined, post away with your gift idea(s). :-)

Things here are going fine for the most part. I’m busy with work and school… the boys had Spanish after school today and I was with the class that had bleeding involved. Don’t ask.

Christina and Edie have their show at Borders’ Cafe, and you can read some about it on lawrence.com under A&E, Art a la carte. Check it out sometime!

Arabic exams fill me with a sense of dread… finishing them doesn’t remove the dread… Why is that, exactly? *heh*

Just another manic Friday…

Friday, November 5th, 2004

Whooooooah.

Actually, on second thought, this has been a fairly mellow Friday. I’m disappointed in my pronunciation skills as far as Arabic is concerned. But apart from that, it’s lovely and cold today.

Christina’s and Edie’s work is now hanging in the Borders Cafe at 7th and New Hampshire if anyone (around here) wants to take a look. I got to see it last night and was thoroughly impressed with how they did it.

Presidential blah blah blah

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2004

I guess it’s semi-official. I just read a report that Kerry has conceded the election to President Bush.

Right now I just hope that sanity prevails and that everyone gets along with life peacefully.

Note the use of the word “peacefully” in the previous sentence.

Note that I really hope the world comes to peace soon.

Note that hope won’t cut it.
