Christmas seasonings…

Tuesday, December 28th, 2004

I have really enjoyed the holidays this year in spite of the sense of forboding that I thought might drown me. My nuclear family travelled quite a bit, visiting family in Newton, Walton, Lawrence, Blue Springs, and Lee’s Summit. There are many memories from those trips and I consider them my biggest gifts of the season.

Work in progress…

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2004

The solstice has come and gone. I’m feeling a bit more like myself now, and I think it’s going to be okay.

I finished my Arabic class and that’s a great accomplishment. Unfortunately I still don’t know how I did on the final. I suspect that I got a B in the class. We’ll see. I still have a ton of vocabulary to review and, with luck, memorize before the middle of January.

Work is work. What more can I say?

My brother and sister in law are back from China for the holidays. We’ve gotten to hang out quite a little bit and it’s been really nice.

I hope everyone who reads this is having a nice time this season.

I’m back at work today. Sadly, I think I’m heading home at noon instead of heading to my team’s annual luncheon. *sighs* My head is swimming.

Tonight I have to pick up David, get gas, pick up prescriptions, go to dinner at Jim’s, take David to scouts, and get home and somewhere in there, I’m pretty sure I need to study for my Arabic final. Not to mention that I need to get back to my sister and brother who both called me this morning here at work about holiday plans.

Um… help?

I’ve been sick…

Man have I ever been sick. It’s been five days now. I’m really ready for the fog to lift. The sinus pressure and the coughing and the phlegm and the fitful sleep… it all just sucks. I hope to go back to work tomorrow (Monday) but I’m not that hopeful, if you know what I mean. ;)

Updates…

Friday, December 3rd, 2004

Man, I’ve been meaning to update this journal for quite some time. I’m slow. *nodnods*

Two weeks from today I’ll be done with my first semester of Arabic. It’s one of the most amazing languages I’ve ever had the fortune to study. I’m really excited about learning more, but I recognize that I need to spend a lot of time with flashcards studying vocabulary.

The boys are both doing quite well. There is a basketball game tomorrow morning, and I think that should be fun and exciting. Christina is nearly done with her penultimate class toward her bachelor’s degree, and we’re both pretty stoked about that, let me tell ya.
